What I Learned the Hard Way About Growing a Business & the New Year Hustle

A few years ago, my year started in a very different way. On the 2nd of January, I was already back to commuting for hours in the dark, surrounded by other tired and miserable faces. I was running a business I cared deeply about. I loved watching my team grow and thrive, but behind the scenes, something wasn’t right. I wasn’t growing—not personally, not professionally.

I was stuck in survival mode. Stuck in the grind, far from thriving.

There was no slow start to my year, no chance to reflect or recharge. I was simply pushing forward, ticking tasks off a never-ending to-do list. No rest. No permission to pause and embrace the natural rhythm of the season.

The cost of that approach was immense. My health was suffering, and so was my business. Though I had a sense of purpose, I wasn’t aligned with my values, and that misalignment showed up in every area of my life.

Something had to change.

The Turning Point

Fast forward to now, and my life looks completely different. The shift didn’t happen overnight, but it began with one key realisation: rest and renewal are not luxuries. They are essential.

Over time, I started to:

  • Honour rest and renewal. I began giving myself the space to recharge and grow, recognising that these moments of pause were just as important as the moments of action.

  • Carve out time for what truly matters. I prioritised my health, my passions, and the things that bring me joy—things I had neglected for far too long.

  • Shift from surviving to thriving. Instead of racing to keep up, I designed my life and work in alignment with my values. This alignment has given me the energy and excitement to embrace each day in FULL.

The first Monday in January, I woke up excited to get back to work. I feel rested, creative, and ready to take on a week I’ve intentionally designed for myself. The difference is profound: I no longer feel like I’m at the mercy of my business. Instead, I’m creating a life and business that support each other, rooted in purpose and sustainability.

Finding Alignment in Your Own Life

If my story resonates with you, you’re not alone. Many women I speak to feel a similar disconnect. Some of these may resonate:

  • “I’m overwhelmed by the uncertainty of making this career change and unsure where to start.”

  • “I feel stuck in a career that doesn’t align with my values or purpose.”

  • “I’m scared of burning out as I try to build a business that truly fulfils me.”

It doesn’t have to be this way. Imagine instead:

  • Feeling confident and clear about your next steps and your business vision.

  • Building a business that’s aligned with your purpose and values.

  • Thriving as an entrepreneur, balancing impact and fulfilment without sacrificing yourself.

A little of life lately! London events, beach days (back in summer..), coaching calls, and my fav, Palma 😍

Creating Space for Change

This year, Laura and I are launching a program designed to help women like you transition from professional careers to building values-driven businesses. It’s about creating a life and work environment that nourishes you, rather than drains you. A space where you can embrace rest, renewal, and purpose while making an impact in the world.

If this sounds like the next chapter you’re ready to write, we’d love to support you on the journey. Sign up now to be the first to know when the program goes live.

Let’s create space for what truly matters.
